Recognizing the lack of uniformity in the Architectural Design of jails in States and Union Territories, Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D) invited Architects to participate in a Two Stage IDEA Competition for Jail Designs in November, 2020. In addition to have uniformity in architectural design of jails in states and union territories the aim of this idea competition for design of jails was to emphasize how an architect’s design can best support the rehabilitative process of inmates in jails by providing a humane environment for the inmates and the staff.
